Many of you have been with us since the early days. You backed the Spark Core in 2013, pre-ordered the Photon when it launched in 2014, and supported our expansion into cellular with the Electron in 2015. You’ve deployed software with our IDEs and you’ve managed devices with our Console. With your help, our community has grown from a handful of bleeding-edge early adopters to a community of more than 120,000 engineers, tinkerers, and entrepreneurs. You’ll find us in the R&D labs at half of the Fortune 500, and in 90% of Fortune 500 IT companies. It’s been a pleasure building tools and a platform for such an enthusiastic, warm, and inspiring group of individuals, and we’ve enjoyed every bit of the ride so far.
As we’ve grown over the last four years, so have you. Many of you have taken products that you prototyped with Particle and have brought them to market. As a result, Particle is powering a wide swath of the emerging Internet of Things. You can find us in stormwater systems, making sure that reservoirs don’t overflow during a heavy downpour. We’re under gas stations, making sure that the fuel tanks aren’t leaking. We’re on natural gas rigs, monitoring methane emissions to comply with EPA regulations. We’re on industrial motors, making sure they are functioning properly. We’re in coffeemakers, in pet toys, in cars, and in gardening systems.
Now, with your help, we’re taking the next major step in our journey; we’ve raised $20MM in Series B funding, led by Spark Capital, to grow our team and accelerate our investment in building the most widely-used IoT platform. We couldn’t be more excited to be sharing this news with our supporters and customers, and can’t wait to welcome even more wonderful individuals to our community over the upcoming years.
Thank you for being a continuous source of feedback, inspiration, and support – we would not be where we are today without you. In the meantime, stay on the lookout for more news from Particle. We’ve got big plans for the future, and can’t wait to share them with you!
